Business Accessibility Survey
Overview
Melton Borough Council and the Melton Business Improvement District are working together to better understand how local businesses approach accessibility, including the opportunities linked to the Purple Pound. This is the spending power of disabled people and their households, and it highlights why accessible places, services and customer experiences matter commercially as well as socially.
Accessibility matters to everyone. In the UK, 1 in 5 people have a long-term impairment that affects their ability to carry out everyday activities. These impairments may be visual, hearing, motor-related, or cognitive. Visit Britain estimates that tourism trips in England involving people with an impairment generate around £14.6 billion each year.
Improving accessibility is not only about supporting people with long-term impairments; it helps create better experiences for all customers, employees and visitors, whose needs can vary at different times and in different situations.
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You will also find useful links to practical resources, including guidance on quick wins and longer-term actions that could help your business become more accessible and inclusive as you progress through the questions.
Why your views matter
Through this survey, we want to hear how businesses are making their workplaces, services and customer experiences more accessible, and what barriers may be getting in the way, whether physical, digital or attitudinal.
