We asked

This was the first stage in preparing the Melton Local Plan Partial Update. We wanted to give our residents, businesses and local organisations an opportunity to view the Regulation 18 Isuues and Options document, which set out the options for the partial update. We asked you to share you views on the policy's wording.

You said

In total, 856 responses were received from 66 respondents who represented statutory and general consultees, individuals, businesses and organisations.

A summary of all the comments and main issues identified can be found in the Statement of Consultation (Regulation 18), which was developed to summarise and respond to all of the representations received.

We did

The responses were used to assist in the development of a Regulation 19 Pre-Submission Local Plan Update, which was the next step in the Local Plan Partial update. Once this was developed we also asked your views on this through our Pre-submission Local plan update consultation in January 2025.

Further details on the progress of the Melton Local Plan are published on the Melton Local Plan website.

Overview

On 28 September 2023, the Council undertook the required five-year review of the adopted Melton Local Plan and agreed that it was appropriate that a partial update was required to improve the effectiveness of the policies and reflect the changes to national updates.

The Local Plan sets out the council’s vision and aims for the development of the Borough, focusing on housing, employment, and infrastructure. The current plan was adopted in 2018 and will run up to 2036.

Why your views matter

Residents and businesses are encouraged to share their thoughts on the council’s proposed options for this partial update by taking part in the Local Plan Issues and Options consultation. This is the first stage in preparing the Melton Local Plan Partial Update and gives residents and businesses the opportunity to consider the policy wordings.

What happens next

The results will be used to prepare an updated version of the Melton Local Plan, which the council will consult the public by the end of 2024.
